Why has Land Registry changed my register without my permission?

There could be a number of reasons why your register has been changed. For example, a third party who claims the benefit of an interest in your registered estate or mortgage can apply to us to protect that interest by making an entry in your register. However, we will always send you a letter/email informing you of such an application. That is why it is important to keep your contact details up to date. If they are not up to date, you may not receive our letter or email.

Further information on how to change your address for service is available in Public Guide 2 – Keeping your address for service up to date, section 5.

If you think there is an error in your register, see What do I do if I believe there is an error in my register/registration?
