IT apprenticeships

Our IT apprenticeships are usually based in our in-house Digital, Data and Technology team in Plymouth where you will be helping to design and build the IT systems of our future. A leading training organisation will provide your study course including one day a week at college. We will provide your salary, tuition fees, and equipment.

The first year is spent working towards a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in IT. Upon successful completion of the Level 3 programme, you will progress to work towards a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship for a further 18 months. You will also work towards a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma and City & Guilds Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in IT.

Your work will include:

  • testing and pair programming in an agile team
  • working in an infrastructure team such as Networks
  • managing your own workload
  • communicating with internal customers
  • attending meetings where you’ll share your ideas for improving services and contributing to team efficiency and effectiveness

We offer:

  • 28.5 days’ annual leave and 8 days’ public holidays (pro rata)
  • flexible working in many roles. Our flexi-time scheme enables any hours worked over your weekly standard hours to be claimed back as time in lieu, with manager approval, up to a maximum of 24 days a year for a full-time member of staff
  • a range of family-friendly policies, such as part-time working, job sharing, parental leave and career breaks and a range of leave options for parents, detailed below. These depend on business needs, but our aim is to help you achieve a positive work-life balance
  • maternity leave, shared parental leave and adoption leave of up to 26 weeks on full pay, followed by 13 weeks’ statutory pay and a further 13 weeks unpaid
  • paternity leave of up to 14 days’ leave on full pay
