HM Land Registry MapSearch

Business e-services customers can use MapSearch to find out if a property is registered, view its location and obtain its title number and details of tenure.

Applies to England and Wales

MapSearch is a free-to-use digital service for HM Land Registry Business e-services customers. With MapSearch you can:

  • quickly establish whether land and property in England and Wales is registered
  • view the location of registered land and property
  • obtain title numbers, details of freehold or leasehold tenure and other registered interests
  • save a PDF of any MapSearch result with our Snapshot feature (for reference purposes only and subject to copyright)

Indemnity provisions

MapSearch does not provide indemnity provisions for information supplied. If you require the benefit of indemnity provisions, you’ll need to carry out a search of the index map. Find out more information in our guide Index map: official search (PG10).

How to get access

MapSearch is one of the free services included in the Information Services group. You need to complete an application for Business e-services and agree to the Conditions of use.

There is no fee to sign up to Business e-services, but you must have at least one Variable Direct Debit account to pay fees for the services you use.
