HM Land Registry no longer offer the Ownership Change Indicator service for local authorities.

To identify recent sales in your area, download our price paid data and filter by locality: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/price-paid-data-downloads

Alternatively, use our report builder and select a specific local authority: http://landregistry.data.gov.uk/app/ppd

To find out who the owner of a property is, use our Find Property Information service: https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry

Applies to England and Wales

This service is available to local authorities under a data sharing agreement.

Each month, we send you a file that identifies ownership changes on recent residential property sales within a defined administrative area. Anomalies with house numbering, splits or new properties are highlighted.

This service can help you:

  • improve the information within your database
  • avoid delays when getting names of new occupants
  • create council tax accounts more quickly
  • confirm the date of legal ownership
  • identify house sales with sitting tenants
