Registering the Olympic Park

Land Registry started preparing for the huge volume of work generated by the 2012 Olympics as soon as London was named as host.

The project covered various applications relating to the Olympic Park, the Stratford City town centre development, including the Westfield shopping centre, and much of the new transport infrastructure.

More than 90 per cent of the Olympics-related registrations were completed by our Stevenage Office.

Aerial shot of the velodrome. Copyright London 2012. A specialist team at our Wales Office then took up the baton at a critical time, concentrating on applications for the registration of the leases and rent charges of 1,400 of the 2,800 flats in the athletes' village.

For security reasons there was no access to the usual on-site survey information, so our team took the innovative step of relying on architects' drawings to create the title plans.
