Ministerial responsibility for Land Registry
The Prime Minister announced on 18 July 2011 that Ministerial responsibility for Land Registry will pass to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
It has now been agreed that Edward Davey, Minister for Employment Relations, Consumer and Postal Affairs will take over from Lord McNally as the responsible Minister for Land Registry. Overall Ministerial responsibility will lie with the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Dr Vince Cable.
The Shareholder Executive (also part of BIS), headed by Stephen Lovegrove, will take on the sponsorship role for Land Registry.
Bernadette Kelly, Director General Market Frameworks, will have wider policy responsibility for Land Registration issues. The Market Frameworks Group provides an economic and legal framework to support growth and competitiveness. This framework includes regulation, law and governance as well as sponsorship of the Insolvency Service and Companies House.
